Roehampton Gate School (RGS) caters to young people aged 9-19 with mild to moderate autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome, and related learning difficulties. Located in Roehampton, SW London, we aim to deliver high-quality education and care tailored to individual needs in a safe, positive, and structured environment.
Main duties:
1. Work collaboratively to uphold and embed the school’s vision of raising aspirations and fulfilling the potential of our students.
2. Champion a safe and emotionally secure environment, demonstrating empathy, adaptability, and resilience to support students' emotional needs.
3. Act as an advocate for the school’s policies, especially safeguarding and behaviour, supporting positive emotional regulation techniques to maintain a positive learning environment.
4. Ensure adherence to Aspris policies and procedures, including accurate and timely recording of activities related to students.
5. Promote independent learning, self-esteem, and emotional regulation among students.
6. Commit to regular training, both mandatory and CPD, to enhance understanding of additional needs and behavioural challenges, providing tailored support for each student.
7. Support students in managing their needs to access education and develop emotional resilience.
8. Provide emotional guidance during crises, employing de-escalation strategies and early intervention techniques.
9. Deliver intervention sessions as directed by the Pastoral Manager.
10. Assist students in identifying and managing emotions to develop self-help strategies.
11. Safeguard and promote student welfare, acting as a source of advice on safety and safeguarding.
12. Collaborate with colleagues, especially teachers, in managing incidents and behaviour management strategies.
13. Assist in implementing individual pupil plans, including pastoral support and behaviour contracts.
14. Contribute to staff CPD sessions on behaviour, SEND, and related strategies.
15. Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to understand student needs and promote collaboration.
16. Establish constructive home-school communication and support attendance through meetings when appropriate.
