Retail Store Assistant – £12.56 per hour plus benefits. Reports to: Shop manager. Department: Trading. Location: Sydenham. Contract: Permanent. Working hours: Part time 7.5 hours per week. Closing date: Sunday 14th September 2025 23:55 (vacancy may close earlier if a high volume of applications is received or a suitable candidate is found).
The internal title for this role is Shop Assistant.

At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer. We are looking for a motivated store assistant to join our trading team as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK. Your shop will be a place where the community can meet our people, understand our brand, and learn about the work we do. You’ll be surrounded by colleagues who share the mission to beat cancer.
What will I be doing?
* Providing excellent customer and supporter service.
* Working as part of the shop team to achieve ambitious sales and fundraising targets.
* Maintaining shop standards including visual presentation, safeguarding compliance and health and safety.
* Creating relationships with your local community and Cancer Research UK colleagues.
* Supporting fundraising events for the store to achieve targets.
* Taking keyholder responsibility as required (training provided).
* A varied amount of manual handling and physical activity is required in day-to-day duties.
What are you looking for?
* An understanding of what makes great customer service.
* Experience of working in a busy customer service environment.
* The ability to manage your own workload and work independently when required.
* The ability to work well in a team.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Flexibility: retail teams cover store needs on a rota basis. While flexibility is needed to meet business needs, we recognise you have a life outside of work.
