We are a small, dynamic precision engineering company seeking a highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented Finance & Administration Officer to join our growing team. This is a pivotal role supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the business, with responsibility across finance, administration, and operational support to the Director. Key Responsibilities Finance & Accounts - Managing invoicing processes accurately and in a timely manner - Chasing outstanding payments and maintaining healthy cash flow - Processing supplier payments and reconciling accounts - Managing monthly payroll processes accurately and on time - Handling VAT submissions and ensuring compliance with regulations - Managing interactions with HMRC and supporting tax-related matters - Overseeing day-to-day banking activities and reconciliations - Liaising with external accountants to support financial reporting and year- end processes Administration - Providing general administrative support across the business - Maintaining accurate records and documentation - Filing and organising company records efficiently - Answering telephone calls, handling enquiries professionally, and taking accurate messages - Organising and scheduling regular annual servicing appointments - Keeping stock of office stationery and essential supplies (including refreshments, soap, hand towels, and toilet rolls, etc) - Supporting operational processes and improving efficiencies where possible - Undertaking ad-hoc office duties as and when required Director & Business Support - Assisting the Director with documentation, reporting, and correspondence - Supporting the Director with copying, printing, and filing duties - Acting as a key point of coordination across different business functions HR Support - Assisting with HR administration, including onboarding documentation and record-keeping - Handling holiday requests and maintaining leave records - Supporting employee-related processes and ensuring compliance with policies About You - Proven experience in a finance, accounts, or bookkeeping role - Strong working knowledge of VAT and UK financial compliance requirements - Confident dealing with HMRC and external stakeholders - Experience processing payroll and supporting HR administration - Highly organised with excellent attention to detail - Able to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritise effectively - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal - Must be able to always communicate clearly with the immediate team - Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently - Trustworthy and honest, with the highest standards of integrity - Must have a calm and helpful attitude - Experience supporting HR or business operations is desirable - Experience in ISO9001 systems would be an advantage -proficient in Word, Excel and Xero software.
