Role Overview
We are hiring an experienced Planner to join our engineering team in York or Leeds. This role focusses on the design of high‑speed rail infrastructure and supports other market lines in the UK and overseas. The Planner will be part of a growing UK management team delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of clients.
Responsibilities
* Accountable for delivery of programme controls on a project, ensuring accurate reporting internally and externally.
* Lead the planning team, using Primavera to manage schedules in a busy environment.
* Identify, analyse and deliver solutions for the client and project team.
* Maintain good relationships with all external parties to enhance the company’s reputation.
* Work on large multi‑disciplinary rail projects, including tender planning and detailed programme analysis.
* Provide earned value management and critical path analysis to keep programmes on track.
* Prepare and deliver period‑programme updates, highlighting issues and providing planning advice to senior management.
* Chair progress meetings and communicate clear, concise data to the project team and the client.
* Share rail sector knowledge and deliver necessary reports to enable senior managers to direct the project appropriately.
* Use Microsoft Office and other PC‑based Windows environment tools proficiently.
Qualifications & Experience
* HNC/Degree in a relevant industry subject.
* Member of the Association for Project Management (APM) – desirable.
* Experienced skills in managing programmes within major infrastructure projects.
* Competent user of Primavera and associated risk analysis tools.
* Understanding of multi‑disciplinary coordination across global design teams.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to produce programmes and associated reports.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
