About the role
We are pleased to be recruiting an experienced and pro‑active leader to join our Senior team. The Associate Director of Women and Children’s Services will be a registered and practising midwife who will support the Nurse/AHP Director and Chief Operating Officer to deliver strategic direction for women and children’s services across the Western Isles.
Key responsibilities
* Operational care and driving innovation to ensure safe, compassionate services for women and children in the Western Isles.
* Work across a variety of clinical departments and systems, giving direction and support, developing strong networks, teams and improvements for staff and patient experience and outcomes.
* Problem anticipation and solution flows, an appetite for innovation and development, team building, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications and requirements
* Registered and practising midwife.
* Proven experience in maternity services.
* Continuous improvement skills.
* Strong leadership.
* Ability to work across clinical departments and systems with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

As from 1/4/2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis.
