As a Paint Team leader, you will lead a team within the paint plant. You will report directly into the section manager, raising / communicating any issues there is. As a team leader you will coordinate the team in adhering to all safety and quality standards.


What You'll Be Doing

* Continually monitor and audit Health and Safety, People, Quality, Velocity and Cost metrics within your span of control as per company guidelines meeting targets.
* Reinforce Caterpillar's Values in Action. Communicate to appropriate departments/personnel and at daily start of shift meetings.
* Record defect information in detail to the quality gate visual management boards/management systems.
* Clearly communicate defects to Paint Operations and support area personnel as defects are identified.
* Provide detailed quality feedback with quality alerts and quality meetings.
* Participate in defect investigations and component inspection as required.
* Standard Work / Training – Maintain the skills matrix for the team to 100% versatility, ensure standard work is updated.
* Participate in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) for Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost within your team operation.
* Lead the team to meet the daily demand of the job and root‑cause analyse events leading to process failure.
* Generate and work on Continuous Improvement ideas for your assigned area using the Continuous Improvement (CI) process.
* Adhere to the Company's Health and Safety policy and safe working practices and report appropriately.
* Undertake training and further learning as required for the job and the BCP Safety Recipe.
* Maintain leadership development required learning.
* Flexibility in working on other shifts.


Skills We Are Looking For

* Paint Plant Operations: Proficient in managing and supporting processes within a paint plant environment, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
* Lean Manufacturing & Cost Reduction: Skilled in applying Caterpillar Production System (CPS) principles to identify inefficiencies, reduce waste, and drive cost‑saving initiatives.
* Quality Assurance & BIQ: Experienced in Built‑In Quality (BIQ) practices, including defect reporting, root‑cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to maintain high product standards.
* Continuous Improvement Mindset: Strong advocate for continuous improvement and team‑based problem solving, aligned with Caterpillar's core values.
* Team Collaboration: Effective in working collaboratively within cross‑functional teams to achieve shared goals and deliver operational excellence.
* Leadership & Motivation: Capable of guiding and motivating team members through strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to challenges.
* Communication & Organisation: Excellent communicator with strong organisational abilities, ensuring clear information flow and structured task management.
* Flexibility & Reliability: Willing and able to support flexible working hours and multi‑shift operations to meet production demands.
* Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in all tasks, particularly in quality control and process monitoring.
* Problem Solving: Methodical and analytical in resolving quality and process issues, ensuring sustainable improvements and compliance.

Top Candidates will also have: Previous supervisory experience.

* Salary: £33,892 rising to £37,568 when role triggers are met.
* Contract: 12 months.
