Purpose of the Role: This is a key role within the Freightliner Finance team, reporting to the Corporate Controller. The Financial Reporting Accountant will be responsible for delivering high‑quality financial reporting, leading statutory accounts preparation, coordinating audits, and maintaining a strong internal controls environment. The role will also contribute directly to key projects, including transitioning from US GAAP to IFRS and supporting system and process improvements. Main duties and responsibilities: Statutory and Group Reporting Prepare legal entity financial statements under FRS 101 for all statutory reporting requirements. Produce accurate month-end deliverables, including financial schedules, reconciliations, and analysis for internal review and group reporting. Ensure all financial reporting complies with IFRS group accounting policies. Audit & Compliance Coordinate the annual external audit, including planning, managing deliverables, responding to audit queries, and ensuring timely close-out. Maintain and develop a robust internal controls framework, identifying enhancements and ensuring documentation is up to date. Deliver tax-related reporting and submissions to HMRC in line with statutory deadlines. Technical Accounting & Process Improvement Provide technical accounting guidance and develop appropriate accounting policies for complex or judgemental areas. Support the transition from US GAAP to IFRS, including technical analysis, documentation and stakeholder communication. Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardisation and automation within reporting and controls. Projects and Business Support Support ad hoc finance projects, including: Legal entity rationalisation Implementation or upgrade of finance systems Mergers and acquisitions integrations Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across finance, tax, and operational teams. KPI’s/Performance Measures: On‑time and accurate delivery of month-end and group reporting. Timely and error‑free submission of statutory accounts. Completion of external audit in line with agreed timetable and with minimal outstanding items. HMRC submissions delivered on time with no compliance issues. Strength of control environment (e.g., minimal audit findings). Positive feedback from internal stakeholders and auditors. Personal Specification: Qualifications & Technical Skills Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA) with at least one year PQE. Proven experience preparing financial statements under IFRS or FRS 101. Experience in external audit or coordinating audits from the client side. Strong understanding of IFRS and ability to apply technical accounting principles. Highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large datasets. Experience designing and implementing process or controls improvements. Experience with HMRC gateway, OneSource or similar tax tools advantageous. Personal Attributes & Capabilities Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
