Dorset Travel arrange transport for children and young people with additional needs across Dorset and beyond. We also support travel for mainstream schools, early years settings and adults. We’re currently looking for caring, flexible and responsible people to join us as Casual Passenger Assistants in the Poole area. This is a term time role where you’ll step in to cover when our regular Passenger Assistants are unavailable. As a Passenger Assistant, you’ll help young people get to and from school safely, either on a one-to-one basis or on shared transport. You’ll play an important part in creating a calm and secure environment throughout the journey. To do this role, you’ll need to be available for work in both the mornings and afternoons to fit around school opening and closing times. All holiday leave is taken during school holidays. We’re looking for people who: understand moderate and complex learning needs know how to safeguard children and keep them safe can spot hazards and report them appropriately You’ll also need to be physically fit and comfortable with running, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying and kneeling, to make sure you can give the support required. Dorset Travel is also an accredited training centre with experienced and qualified trainers, new staff will be invited onto a full induction training course, providing the tools and knowledge to enable you to work safely and professionally.
