Overview
The post holder will be establishment based and report to the Head of Business Assurance. The post holder will be responsible for implementing and supporting an over-arching Welfare Delivery and Wellbeing Framework within prisons. The role includes coordinating the local reflective practice model within prisons and providing advice and guidance to Governors, Senior Leaders and Line Managers to support staff wellbeing. This is a non-operational role with no line management responsibility and is non-rotational.
Responsibilities, Activities and Duties
* Coordinate and deliver the local reflective practice model/sessions to identified staff cohorts to improve resilience, confidence, and retention.
* Ensure trained reflective practitioners are released to attend planned reflective practice sessions.
* Work collaboratively with People Hub/Detail to ensure optimum attendance on the reflective practice timetable.
* Engage with reflective practice sponsor and/or Governor to highlight concerns or trends from reflective practice delivery.
* Promote PAM Reflective sessions.
* Drive improvements in local wellbeing activity through the coordination of the local Wellbeing Committee.
* Ensure TRiM, Mental Health Allies and the Care Team work collaboratively to support staff.
* Post Incident Care: work collaboratively with Safer Custody colleagues and stakeholders to ensure timely and appropriate support.
* Coordinate wellbeing events, promotion and activities as per a locally published Wellbeing calendar.
* Contribute to the Supporting Each Other Framework by delivering a local Wellbeing Induction to new starters.
* Work with managers to improve staff wellbeing in their areas, including delivering Wellbeing awareness sessions.
* Engage with MOJ HR to contribute to Wellbeing assurance activity and drive improvements in staff wellbeing.
* Provide specialist advice on staff absences or concerns relating to mental health, including promoting external support.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver the fitness testing programme.
* Work with internal and external stakeholders to improve staff wellbeing (e.g., Staff Fitness Team, National Staff Support Leads, MOJ People Group, Health & Safety, D&I; OH, EAP, Charity for Civil Servants).
* Provide regular communications within establishments on national, regional and local wellbeing initiatives (Disability Passports, Carers Passport, Menopause Framework).
* Identify and share good practice across the region and align with joined-up, effective working practices.
Qualifications and Skills
* Strong communication and influencing skills; able to deliver training effectively with staff at all levels.
* Developing self and others; delivering at pace; working together; excellent organisational skills, planning and attention to detail.
* Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel.
* Ability to collate and analyse information.
* Ability to facilitate discussion and engage with stakeholders.
Working Arrangements and Additional Information
The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working and may include working from base location, MoJ sites, or from home. Some roles may not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate and reviewed regularly. For nationally advertised roles, appointment will be to a MoJ office location and may involve nearest Justice Collaboration Centre or Justice Satellite Office. Some terms and conditions will change as part of Civil Service reform. Standard full-time working hours are 37 hours per week excluding unpaid breaks. HMPPS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing patterns where feasible. If you are a current NPS employee, the vacancy may be available on a loan basis for up to 2 years, subject to Business Unit approval. Applications are invited from suitably qualified staff.
