Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role maintaining a portfolio of clients, managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making processes. This position requires an individual who can 'hit the ground running' with limited hand-holding, showing a high proficiency in various cloud accounting software and be capable of producing limited company accounts & CT600s, sole trader accounts, self-assessment tax returns and VAT returns. A knowledge of payroll and CIS would also be advantageous.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and maintain accurate annual accounts and reports in accordance with accounting standards.
* Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
* Conduct regular reconciliations of bank statements and general ledger accounts.
* Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal policies.
* Utilise cloud bookkeeping software, accounts production software and HMRC online services
* Review trainee's work
* Identify areas for process improvement, increased efficiency and self-development
Requirements
* Preferably qualified to ACCA/CA level although willing to consider those qualified by relevant experience
* Minimum of 3 years experience working in an accountancy practice managing own portfolio of clients
* Proficiency in accounting & bookkeeping software including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, IRIS Elements and/or TaxCalc is essential
* Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
* Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
* Excellent communication skills in order to maintain and build on client relationships
* Ability to work independently
* Ability to manage a varied portfolio of clients
* Ability to oversee, review and help junior members of the team
