Key Responsibilities
* We are driving a culture of whole team accountability for quality and continuous testing. As a Senior Quality Engineer you will be embedded into a software engineering product team (Delivery Lead, iOS/Android Engineers, Analysts) delivering our mobile apps.
* Mentor others in testing practice; coach to adopt and improve quality approaches including deployment and observability; review and contribute to the team’s codebase and pipeline configuration; help the team with their system of work from first business need to monitoring services in production. Maintain a customer/user focus.
* Mentor junior members of the Quality Engineering Community and support their personal development.
* Work with a diverse range of technical and non-technical stakeholders; excellent communication and stakeholder management; advocate for improved engineering approaches.
* Opportunities to become a people manager for fellow engineers.
* Learning and continuous improvement are essential; engineers are supported with resources to progress their skills and stay current with technologies and techniques.
Essential Skills/Experience
* Hands-on Senior Quality Engineer with extensive experience delivering native mobile apps for iOS and/or Android.
* Knowledge of architectural patterns used in mobile apps.
* Practical experience with CI/CD of native mobile apps and backend services.
* Coaching teams in Continuous Testing and shift-left/shift-right approaches.
* Critical thinking about engineering approaches; lead discussions on quality risks and responses.
* Leading elaboration activities (e.g., three amigos) to ensure specificity, consistency and testability of requirements and acceptance criteria.
* Reading and writing coded solutions: pair with developers to enhance unit/functional tests, develop testing utilities, maintain code in pipelines, and create coded checks such as mobile test automation or API tests.
* Working knowledge of mobile testing tools/frameworks (preferably XCTest/XCUITest and/or Espresso).
* Analyse mobile non-functional risks (performance, resources, bandwidth, device compatibility, accessibility) and advise on mitigations.
* Understand operational/non-functional requirements (resilience, performance, observability) and how they are tested.
Desirable Skills/Experience
* Bitrise/GitLab CI
* GraphQL
* Backend for Frontend (BFF) patterns
* Microservice architectures
* Cloud infrastructure (GCP or AWS)
* Understanding of mobile security threats and automated security testing
