Job description

SEN Behaviour Mentor

SEMH Specialist School – Burnley – Up to £600 per week – Full-Time

Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Do you have the resilience and confidence to work with pupils who display challenging behaviour in a primary setting?

Maybe you already have some experience in SEN support or a similar field, and are looking to expand your horizons at a nurturing school?

A well-established Primary SEMH specialist school in Burnley is seeking a committed SEN Behaviour Mentor to support pupils with additional emotional and behavioural needs. This is a demanding yet highly rewarding role, ideal for individuals with strong resilience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference.

The Role – SEN Behaviour Mentor

In this SEN Behaviour Mentor role, you will work with pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, delivering 1:1 and small-group support to help them engage with learning and develop more positive behavioural patterns.

You will play a central role in managing challenging behaviour, using structured and consistent strategies to support emotional regulation and effectively de-escalate situations. Building strong, trusting relationships will be essential, as you act as a reliable and positive role model for pupils who require stability, guidance, and encouragement.

You will support pupils with needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism, and trauma-related behaviours, helping them overcome barriers to learning and build confidence both in and out of the classroom.

What’s on Offer

1. Up to £600 per week
2. Full-time, long-term SEN Behaviour Mentor role
3. Immediate or September start available
4. Ongoing SEMH and behaviour management training
5. Supportive and experienced school team

Ideal Candidate – SEN Behaviour Mentor

6. Experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, care, coaching)
7. Strong behaviour management skills
8. Resilient, patient, and confident
9. Ability to build positive, trusting relationships
10. Passion for supporting vulnerable pupils

This SEN Behaviour Mentor role in Burnley offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact while developing valuable SEMH experience. It is particularly well suited to candidates considering careers in Psychology, Therapy, Social Work, or related fields.
