Role Overview
As a Building Surveyor with a heritage and conservation focus, you will work on a diverse range of projects. Approximately 60% of your workload will be dedicated to historic and listed buildings, and the remaining 40% will involve general building surveying duties, providing a well‑rounded experience towards a specialist conservation career path.
Responsibilities
* Conduct condition surveys, defect analysis, and prepare conservation management plans.
* Advise on repair and maintenance of traditional and historic buildings, including sourcing specialist materials.
* Prepare and submit Listed Building Consent applications and liaise with planning authorities.
* Manage refurbishment and adaptation projects for heritage properties, ensuring compliance with RICS and conservation standards.
* Undertake general building surveying tasks such as dilapidations, schedules of condition, and contract administration.
* Work closely with clients, architects, and contractors to deliver tailored solutions that respect historical integrity while meeting modern requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
* A degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
* Strong interest in heritage and conservation, with practical experience or RICS Historic Building Professional certification desirable.
* Excellent technical knowledge of building pathology and traditional construction methods.
* Strong communication and client‑facial skills.
* Ability to manage projects and work collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Working towards MRICS or recently chartered status.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site inspections.
