A great opportunity has arisen to join us as a Healthcare Assistant on our Sulis Ward, St Martins Hospital, Bath. You will join a welcoming multidisciplinary team on our John Stacey ward, where our services run 7 days per week. We have the opportunity to offer full-time and part-time positions to help with the flexibility of hours to suit you!
We provide general medical and stroke rehabilitation for those stepping down from the acute trusts, as well as supporting our primary care colleagues with admission avoidance and stepping up from the community.
Responsibilities
1. Provide compassionate, patient-centred care in line with individual care plans.
2. Support daily care and treatment under the guidance of a registered practitioner.
3. Encourage patient and carer involvement in decision-making.
4. Promote patient independence and dignity at all times.
5. Work collaboratively within a multi-professional team.
6. Ensure clear, respectful communication, including support for language or hearing barriers.
7. Maintain accurate documentation of patient needs and preferences.
8. Practice effective infection control and contribute to a safe care environment.
9. Assist in clinics (e.g., dressing, fracture) and carry out delegated tasks confidently.
10. Support junior staff and seek guidance from registered staff when needed.
11. Perform select administrative duties as required.
12. Obtain appropriate consent and provide or request a chaperone when needed.
13. Uphold policies, procedures, and professional standards at all times.
Essential Requirements
* Good general education.
* Care Certificate - or willingness to achieve.
* Experience of working under supervision.
* Experience of supporting other workers.
* Ability to work as a team member.
* Delivering patient-focused care.
* Ability to recognise own limitations.
* Typing/data inputting skills.
* Physical skills to manually handle patients and use appropriate lifting aids.
* Undertake specific nursing/therapy skills.
* Driven to achieve.
* Self-motivated.
* Good time management.
Desirable Skills
* Experience of the NHS.
* Experience of work in an acute or urgent healthcare setting.
* Basic wound care knowledge and skills.
