We are seeking an individual to join Chescombe with significant and relevant experience as a line manager or, working in a leadership position, with career progression towards a post in management in a residential home, or similar setting.

This role will require evening, and weekend working and may also include Bank Holidays or other designated public holidays. The role will require you to comply with the rotas and patterns of work as required by the Trust.

Salary: £16.19 per hour basic pay - £ 31,655.11 based on:

Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week (minimum)

Weeks per year: 52 weeks per year

Duration of post: Permanent

Role Summary

Chescombe Trust is a Charitable Trust that provides lifelong care and support to adults with learning disabilities. The Deputy House Manager will be based on-site, working across a rota pattern. and will provide professional leadership and management for staff in the residential Home setting ensuring that a consistently high level of care is delivered for service users with learning disabilities, and that service users enjoy as a high-quality life as possible. The Deputy House Manager will carry out their duties within the current legislative and regulatory frameworks, whilst maintaining continuous professional development. In addition, the Deputy House Manager will work within the Trust's values, policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

* To support the House Manager in all aspects of management of the home. To deputise for the House Manager in their absence, ensuring seamless continuity of service.
* Work with the House Manager to lead and manage a care team delivering excellence in care standards through supervision.
* Promoting a caring environment which provides service users with a high standard of personal care, meeting individual needs and ensuring that everyone is treated with respect, dignity, and that rights to privacy, independence and choice are met
* Forge strong working relationships with staff, the leadership and central team, Trustees, external stakeholders and provide a professional, trusted and person-focused care service that delivers best practice within our values led organisation

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Care

* Ensure that safe systems in respect of planning and delivery of care are in place and effective. Also ensure that safe systems are followed, recorded and reviewed
* Contribute to care planning, statutory case reviews and case conferences
* Assessment and implementation of individual care and support plans

Communication

* Excellent people skills and the ability to develop trust-based relationships with service users and their families, staff, and external stakeholders
* Ability to assess and promote a range of communication methods to assist service users make informed decisions and choices about issues affecting their lives
* Attend and participate in Board, management and team meetings, supervisions, appraisals, and training, as required
* Strong written communication skills including producing regular and informative reports for Trustees

Compliance

* Ensure compliance with current legislative and regulatory frameworks including, but not restricted to: The Care Act, Health and Social Care Act, Health and Safety law and Mental Capacity law and Regulatory frameworks including the Care Quality Commission
* Liaison with and reporting to local authorities
* Management of safeguarding training records and contribution to the review of the effectiveness of safeguarding policies, practices, and training

Financial

* Manage aspects of the financial effectiveness of the house
* Ensuring accurate reporting of care and staff hours for financial reporting
* Monitoring and maintaining oversight of day-to-day House expenditure

Health & Safety

* Ensuring that Health & Safety law is complied with at all times and embodying a proactive culture where health and safety are prioritised
* Maintaining a safe living environment for service users and employees. To encompass hazard identification, risk assessment, clear communication, training and regular inspections
* Willing to undertake training as required
* Ensuring that all mandatory and statutory training for yourself and your team, and refresher training, is updated and completed in a timely manner

Leadership

* Take on a visible and active leadership role using a variety of influencing and motivation skills
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Working collaboratively with the Registered Manager and the House Manager

Quality Assurance

* Contribute to and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance service user care

* Modelling respect, reliability, responsibility and accountability, integrity, and honesty in all relationships

Workforce Planning

* Planning staffing levels and rotas, including allocating duties and responsibilities, to ensure that day-to-day care needs are met
* Support Trust leaders with workforce planning, including analysis of the current workforce to identify gaps in recruitment, training and development, and succession planning
