Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. CC(S)T in Intensive Care Medicine or equivalent* Member of Fellow of appropriate Royal College
Desirable criteria
2. EDICM or FFICM or UK Diploma in ICM
Registration
Essential criteria
3. On GMC specialist register or within 6 months of registration
Desirable criteria
4. Candidate on the GMC Specialist Register for ICM (via CCT or CESR/portfolio pathway)
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
5. IT Skills and computer literacy Knowledge appropriate to manage a wide range of critically ill adult patients in a major acute hospital ALS
Desirable criteria
6. Experience with Electronic Health Records Sufficient familiarity with care of the critically ill child, to participate in pre-retrieval stabilisation EPLS or APLS ATLS Instructor training for advanced life support courses
Speciality/Sub-Speciality
Essential criteria
7. Competence in the generic skills required to care for the critically ill patient such as airway management, invasive monitoring and methods of multi system support
Desirable criteria
8. Experience or formal certification in any of: Critical Care echo (FICE/FEEL or equivalent) Critical care ultrasound (RCR or equivalent) Instructor/mentor status in the above
Teaching
Essential criteria
9. Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff
Desirable criteria
10. Post graduate teaching qualifications
Management and Audit
Essential criteria
11. Understanding the principles of clinical governance and its implications, Leadership skills, Knowledge of finance/budgets Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
