About Us

We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and enthusiastic teacher within our successful, supportive and high performing Maths faculty, where teaching and learning is at the heart of our collaborative practice. The mathematics department is a dedicated team who enjoy working collaboratively to ensure students have the best possible experience in their lessons. We achieved above average results in both GCSE and A-level, this year ranking in the top 5% nationally for pass rates based on FFT value added measures. We attract great numbers at post 16, offering A Level Maths, Further Maths and Core Maths and this year secured phenomenal outcomes in all courses. A bespoke CPD programme at Heanor Gate means that tailored support is matched to career stage expectations and individuals continually develop their own professional practice in line with personal priorities. Heanor Gate Spencer Academy is an Outstanding secondary school and sixth form (Ofsted, June 2023) which is oversubscribed in Year 7 for the second successive year. Role and Responsibilities

The Mathematics department is a collaborative team that aims to ensure students have the best possible experience in their mathematics lessons. The role is suitable for both ECTs or experienced teachers. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with excellent subject knowledge, the ability to teach KS3, KS4 and the passion to develop KS5 practice in time. You will contribute to maintaining and improving high standards of teaching and learning across key stages.

Through our curriculum and extra-curricular offer, we aim to instil students with a love of learning and help them to become responsible, independent members of the community who go on to a range of destinations including Russell Group universities, higher level apprenticeships and local industry.

Engagement with bespoke CPD, in-house training aligned with the Spencer Academies Trust ECT programme, and opportunities to undertake NPQ qualifications are available.
