Cooper Lomaz are excited to recruit for a well-established client based in Bury St Edmunds who is seeking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer.
As a senior member of the engineering group you will be working under limited supervision, undertaking a variety of engineering tasks using your own knowledge, experience, initiative, and independent judgment, and utilising other engineering resources as required, to support global business demands. You will be required to complete engineering design and drafting work to support existing product ranges, as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions/Duties:
1. Manage the completion of Engineering Support Requests based on business priorities, typically including:
1. completion of design and drafting changes required for incoming Engineering Change Requests (ECR)
2. creation of Engineering Change Notices (ECN)
3. supporting the execution of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) in the business ERP system
2. Generate enhancements/customisations to the existing product portfolio, which may include:
4. the creation and management of a project plan, providing global visibility
5. generating product specifications from customer requirements
6. detailed 2D drawings and 3D models
7. prototype development and test where necessary
8. liaison with internal departments, suppliers, and customers
9. product release to production
3. As the principle technical engineering point of contact, collaborate effectively with other engineers and departments as part of one or more Product Value Streams, providing technical engineering support to the group.
Qualifications Education & Experience:
Professionally qualified, to Degree standard, in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline. Minimum of 4 years relevant previous engineering experience required.
Knowledge & Skills Essential:
10. Working knowledge of common drafting standards and procedures
11. Knowledge of UK, EU & US product design and certification standards
12. 2D draughting, 3D solid modelling, using AutoCAD/Inventor or similar
13. Working knowledge of MS Office, (Project, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Internet Explorer)
14. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
Knowledge and/or experience of:
15. Castings
16. Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
17. Fluid dynamics (CFD)
18. Control Systems
19. FEA
20. Part/product compliance in areas such as the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), and Hazardous Areas (e.g., ATEX, CSA).
