We’re looking for someone who:

* Has a genuine passion for helping every student discover their love of science
* Brings enthusiasm, authority, and confidence to their teaching
* Creates engaging lessons that give outstanding learning experiences
* Is dedicated to inspire our students to achieve their full potential

We would like to appoint a Teacher of Science to teach Key Stage 3 and 4 to start in September 2026. We are welcoming applications for any discipline although Chemistry or Physics would be preferred. Leadership opportunities may be available for exceptional candidates within the department or wider school.

All who work and are a part of The Hastings Academy are continually striving to ensure we are the academy of choice. We have a published admissions number of 180 (900 pupils in total) and host a special facility for up to 10 young people with speech, language, and communication difficulties.

* Remote PPA: All teaching staff are entitled to one afternoon of remote PPA per week, allowing them to work from home during this time.
* Professional growth at our school is developmental, not performative. We have replaced one-size-fits-all CPD with a rich coaching offer.
* Only One After-School Event per Week: Always on Thursdays. No doubles. No burnout.
* Well-Being Ambassadors & Weeks: Our school has designated staff responsible for promoting well-being, feeding back directly to leadership and organising well-being weeks.
* Perks and Benefits: We offer access to discounted gym memberships, the cycle-to-work scheme, and staff-only perks to support physical and financial well-being.
* Complimentary Food: Staff enjoy free tea and coffee daily, complimentary breakfast every morning and hot food provided before evening events such parents' evenings.
* Two-Week October Half Term: Our autumn term is the longest of the year. Instead of running an exhausting 8-week block followed by 7 more, we’ve redesigned the calendar into two balanced 7-week half terms.

Our commitment

All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check. This role is considered exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013, 2020 and 2023.
