What you will do
* Develop and lead a strategic, sustainable, and engaging volunteer programme.
* Recruit, train, and retain volunteers, maximising the impact of their contributions and ensuring a positive experience.
* Craft compelling role descriptions and promote volunteer opportunities through effective channels.
* Boost retention rates by creating a positive and supportive volunteer culture and ensuring meaningful roles.
* Build strong relationships with volunteers and the community to strengthen AHO's ties and foster a sense of community ownership.
* Streamline operations through effective scheduling and resource allocation, aligning volunteer efforts with AHO's goals.
* Match volunteers with tasks that suit their interests and talents, providing tailored training and support to develop new skills.
* Develop and implement policies and procedures covering safeguarding to health and safety, ensuring compliance and safety.
* Track and evaluate volunteer activities and hours, translating data into reports on program progress and outcomes for senior staff and funders.
* Act as a mediator to address concerns and resolve problems in a constructive and timely manner.
* Orchestrate the entire volunteer journey, from initial interest to sustained engagement and recognition.
Qualifications
Essential
* Educated to a degree level.
* At least five years of experience in recruitment and managing volunteers.
* Excellent administration skills with experience in managing high‑level enquiries, bookings, logistics and event resources.
* Excellent interpersonal and customer‑service skills, able to build positive relationships with diverse backgrounds.
* Excellent communication skills, engaging varied audiences through calls, emails, presentations, web content and training material.
* Ability to give and receive constructive feedback using appropriate and empathetic methods.
* Knowledge of volunteer management systems desirable.
Desirable
* Recruiting, onboarding, training and supporting volunteers in line with volunteer management best practices.
* Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service while improving the experience of volunteers and staff.
* Efficient, proactive, and solutions‑focused approach.
* Managing competing demands effectively.
* Collaborative inclusive approach to work within a wider team, promoting accessibility and valuing diversity.
* Evidence of recent continuous professional development.
* Track record of recruiting volunteers effectively or staff in an HR setting.
* Experience in safeguarding processes.
* Experience using Salesforce and Beacon CRM.
* Experience working in a hybrid environment.
