The School Hill House is the leading co-educational, independent school in the area, situated on the borders of South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. It is an exciting and expanding school of some 900 children from age 3 to 18, where teachers can teach and children can learn. The school was founded in 1912 and occupies a splendid location between Bawtry and Doncaster. The school has a stunning site, harmonising the history of an outstanding campus with new, purposely designed 21st century facilities. A recent multi-million pound development project has seen the building of a new Sixth Form Centre, Sports Grounds and Dining Hall. In November 2024, a new £3 million building was completed with Music and Art Schools, a Fitness Centre and a number of classrooms. Academic results are the best in the area. They compete very favourably with other independent schools; expectations are rightly high, and we are ambitious for our children. The school was graded as “excellent” by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in 2022. The school was named Independent Secondary of the Year for 2025 by the Sunday Times. The school is in a thriving and historic area with excellent communication links, around 90 minutes by train from London. The culture, facilities and shops of York, Leeds, Harrogate, Nottingham and Sheffield are all within easy reach, as is the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, Moors and the Peak District. The school is surrounded by many beautiful villages in the countryside, and property prices are very reasonable indeed.
