Swimming Coordinator
Location: The Quarry Swimming & Fitness Centre, Shrewsbury, SY1 1RU.
Salary: £11,286.35 per annum plus excellent benefits.
Schedule: Part‑time, 15 hours per week. Week 1 shifts: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Week 2 shifts: Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Availability to work one Sunday per month. Flexibility required: Afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
Our goal is to promote healthy lifestyles in a safe, clean and friendly environment. We are seeking a committed Swimming Coordinator to lead a high‑quality swimming lessons programme that supports life‑saving skills, builds confidence and strengthens community wellbeing.
What You’ll Do
* Manage, develop and grow the centre’s swimming lessons programme, ensuring high‑quality delivery and strong customer retention.
* Lead, support and mentor a team of qualified swimming teachers, including recruitment, rotas, performance management and ongoing development.
* Coordinate staffing and programmes to meet customer demand, operational requirements and financial targets.
* Develop and introduce new courses and sessions, including intensive and school swimming programmes, to meet community needs.
* Build strong relationships with customers, schools and local partners to support outreach, engagement and programme growth.
* Deliver swimming lessons when required to maintain service continuity and avoid cancellations.
Qualifications
* A Swim England Level 2 or STA Level 2 Award Swim Teacher qualification.
* Have an NPLQ qualification or the ability to carry out rescue tests of teachers.
* Experience managing or supervising teams within a busy leisure or aquatic environment.
* Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build trust with children, parents and colleagues.
* Confidence using IT systems, including booking platforms, Outlook and Excel.
Vetting and Checks
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
