Post No. POSN004420 - 3 x Teaching Assistants Level 3 -Ysgol Bryn Derw Ysgol Bryn Derw are seeking to appoint inspirational Level 3 Teaching Assistants for a unique opportunity to contribute to whole school and class-based initiatives in a growing school that received Excellent ratings in 4 out of 5 Estyn Inspection Areas in March 2020. With the recent opening of an additional new site in Caerleon, Ysgol Bryn Derw, across 3 sites, supports the provision of education for up to 136 children aged from 3 years to 19 years who have been diagnosed with ASD, also present with additional complex needs such as severe learning difficulties and highly challenging behaviour, and require a specialised environment. The school aims to provide the highest possible standards of education and support for all its pupils regardless of their level of educational need, and is equipped with a range of specialised facilities including a Rebound Therapy room, 6 sensory rooms, a Therapy room, 5 soft play rooms, 2 Independent Living Skills rooms and 4 allotment areas. The Governing Body is looking to appoint three Level 3 TAs, in this role you will be the lead teaching assistant in a class of pupils with complex leads, and responsible for delivering learning under the direction of the class teacher, for directing and supporting the work of a team of teaching assistants and for acting as a cover supervisor for up to 3 days in the absence of the class teacher. You will have experience, as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, of working with pupils with ASD/complex needs and a knowledge of strategies to support communication and regulation for people with ASD and of supporting challenging behaviour. All staff at Ysgol Bryn Derw receive a significant CPD offer, recent training has included Team Teach, Intensive Interaction, Attention Autism and PECS.
