What will you be doing?
ALTEN is a world-leading engineering consultancy partnering with clients across aerospace and defence. We are seeking an experienced Fuel Systems Engineer to join our team, contributing to cutting-edge aerospace fuel systems projects.
About the Project:
You will play a key role in the development and evolution of next-generation aircraft fuel systems, supporting programmes at the forefront of sustainable aviation. This includes design and optimisation of fuel distribution, control, and indication systems, as well as integration of chemical additive technologies to meet evolving regulatory and performance requirements. The project involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams across systems design, safety, and certification - contributing to both ongoing product improvement and future platform development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform systems engineering activities focused on fuel systems, including fluid mechanics, controls, and indication.
* Conduct system requirements analysis, architecture design, integration, and verification/validation.
* Support aerospace system certification processes and ensure compliance to industry standards.
* Undertake system safety analysis and contribute to reliability engineering activities.
* Apply chemical additive expertise to enhance fuel system performance and compliance.
Qualifications
Technical Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, combined with experience delivering complex fuel system engineering projects in aerospace environments.
* Proven experience in aerospace or defence industries.
* Strong knowledge of chemical additives used in fuel systems (this is a key requirement).
* Proficiency using DOORS for requirements management (essential).
* Experience with FloMaster or similar fluid simulation tools (highly desirable).
* Solid understanding of system safety, reliability, and certification processes.
* Strong communication and collaborative skills, comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams.
