Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to manage the full lifecycle of live event projects, from initial client enquiry and technical design through to on-site delivery and post-event review. This is a highly client-facing role, responsible for delivering technically complex events to a high standard while balancing creativity, logistics, budgets, and stakeholder management.
The successful candidate will have strong technical production experience across live events, confidence working on larger-scale projects, and the ability to design, quote, and deliver robust technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage live event projects from initial brief through to delivery and post-event evaluation
* Act as a primary technical contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships
* Attend and lead client meetings, site visits, and technical walk-throughs
* Take clear, detailed client briefs and advise on appropriate, scalable technical solutions
* Design and specify technical production solutions, including preparation of CAD drawings (Vectorworks / AutoCAD)
* Produce accurate quotations, proposals, and budgets, with full profit and loss responsibility
* Deliver events across a range of budget scales, typically £30k-£250k+
* Update and manage event data within a Rental Management System (e.g. Current RMS, Easyjob, InSpire)
* Book, schedule, and manage crew and technical resources (line management not required)
* Produce crew documentation and ensure clear technical communication
* Liaise with venues, performers, suppliers, agencies, and other third parties
* Prepare and manage health & safety documentation and compliance
* Oversee on-site technical delivery, troubleshooting as required
* Hands-on operation, rigging, or de-rigging of equipment where appropriate (advantageous but not essential)
* Support business development by identifying new opportunities and promoting technical services
* Travel within the UK and occasionally internationally for site visits and event delivery
* Support wider project and operational teams as required
Candidate Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in the professional live events industry
* Proven experience delivering technical production for live events, including larger-scale shows
* Strong understanding of all core AV disciplines (Video, Audio, Lighting, Rigging, Staging, Power Distribution), with advanced expertise in at least one area
* Experience designing, qualifying, and quoting technical event solutions
* Demonstrable experience managing project budgets and P&L
* Proficiency with Rental Management Systems such as Current RMS, Easyjob, or InSpire
* Strong drafting and technical drawing skills using Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD
* Experience working with a range of client types including agencies, corporate clients, direct clients, and venues
* Confident, professional, and polished client-facing manner with excellent interpersonal skills
* Experience coordinating and leading teams (without direct line management responsibility)
* Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
* Strong commercial awareness alongside a client-focused mindset
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
* Full UK driving licence and own transport

Working Hours
This role requires flexibility. Due to the nature of live events, working hours will vary and weekend work will be required.
