Summary
This role will include processing purchase and sales invoices, bank reconciliations, debt recovery, preparing journals, carrying out financial analysis and supporting in the month end reporting processes including preparation of management and subsidiary accounts.
Job description:
· Extensive knowledge of welfare system and the ability to train others.
· Strong IT skills, and experience in data and information processing.
· Calculate amount of weekly housing benefit due and notify the Support manager of the result.
· Process weekly Housing Benefit payments received from local authorities.
· Liase with colleagues to ensure client arrears are kept to a minimum.
· Issue and instigate, Interventions to reduce arrears.
· Undertake monitoring of benefit transactions in accordance with legislation
· Create and share clients' service charge statements and monthly service charge report.
· Keep up to date information of service charges using the Arthur accounting software and task management systems.
· Create and distribute invoices to partner agencies e.g. Local authorities, NHS or the clients if money is due for specific services provided.
· Update and maintain accurate financial information of each client.
· Knowledge of small claims court – Preparing statements and submission to court.
· Compiling annual rent schedules for submission to LA.
· Review potential HB/CTB over payments and prepare reconsiderations when required.
· Responsible for the recording of rents from housing occupants and rent reconciliation.
· Undertake any necessary training as and when identified.

Essential Qualifications:
· Numerate and Literate to the equivalent of GCSE Level or above
· Relevant qualification in a housing related sector.
· Welfare right qualification.
Essential Criteria:
· At least 3 years working in a Housing Association dealing with rent and service charges
· Have acquired knowledge of supported housing and benefits service
· An understanding of supported housing.
· Computer literate, with good knowledge and experience of computerised accounting systems, Microsoft office, Word and Excel and Housing Management systems such as 'Arthur'
· A good knowledge of Local Authority and Housing Association services
Desirable Criteria:
· Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Internet, Arthur and Fixflo recording systems and Outlook
· Abilities Strong administration skills with accuracy in recording and reporting
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work on own initiative
· Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
· Ability to consistently meet deadlines
· Understand the importance of confidentiality and an ability to always respect this
· Previous finance experience
· Clear professional boundaries
· Good written English and communication skills
· Excellent organisation and administrative skills
· Proactive and flexible approach to problem solving
· Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively using calendars and other means
