We're looking for friendly, reliable tutors to support young learners in the Bury (BL9) area who aren’t currently in mainstream education. These pupils may be out of school due to a variety of reasons – anxiety, SEN, medical issues, or long-term absence – and they need someone who can help them re-engage with learning in a calm and supportive way.
This is flexible, one-to-one tuition that takes place either in the pupil’s home or in a local community space such as a library. It’s not just about helping them catch up academically – it’s about building trust, boosting confidence, and showing them that learning can be a positive experience.
What does the role involve?
Delivering one-to-one sessions in subjects like English and Maths (depending on your strengths)
Supporting learners who may be of various ages, but working at a range of levels
Creating personalised, engaging lessons that meet pupils where they’re at
Working within school hours (between 8am–4pm), on a schedule that suits you
Helping learners who may have SEN, social/emotional needs, or gaps in education
Is this right for you?
This role would suit anyone with experience in education – whether you’re a former teacher, teaching assistant, tutor, or someone with strong subject knowledge and a passion for helping others.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
Have experience working with children or young people
Feel confident delivering core subjects up to at least primary level
Are calm, patient and able to adapt your approach
Understand the needs of pupils who may be facing personal or educational challenges
Want a more flexible, rewarding role that still makes an impact

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
