Harris Academy Greenwich is seeking an Assistant SENCO to cover maternity leave. This is a non‑teaching position with an annual salary of £39,744.13, based on 37.5 hours per week over 42 weeks a year.
Main Areas of Responsibility
* Support the SENDCo in providing professional leadership and management to remove barriers to learning for students with SEND.
* Provide professional guidance on SEND to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies, and assume delegated responsibilities in negotiation with the SENDCo.
* Support the academic progress of students with SEND through small group or 1:1 interventions.
Qualifications & Experience
* Knowledge and understanding of national priorities, current curriculum development and the ability to design and implement an innovative curriculum based on students’ needs.
* Thorough understanding of quality assurance techniques.
* Appreciation of student motivation.
* Understanding of how professional development contributes to raising quality.
* SEN experience in a secondary school.
* Evidence of pastoral experience.
* Experience working with key stakeholders such as parents, governors, employers and others.
