Overview
Head Of Legal Operations at AXA UK. You will lead the department’s transformation agenda, set the vision for legal operations and translate that vision into actionable initiatives, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of AXA UK’s Legal team through strategic, operational, technological, and commercial leadership.
You’ll lead strategic planning, financial management, technology selection, planning and implementation, and vendor management. Working with the General Counsel, you’ll co-create and execute Legal’s strategic vision, focusing on how legal services are delivered to AXA UK. Your ability to think strategically and translate ideas into concrete initiatives will be key to success.
AXA supports flexible working; you’ll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home now, increasing to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attendance at office locations, visiting clients, or attending industry events. We’re happy to discuss flexible working arrangements with Talent Acquisition.
What you’ll be doing
* Developing and leading the department’s strategic vision, translating it into actionable plans and initiatives.
* Driving transformative operational, technological, and process improvements to enhance legal services.
* Overseeing governance, risk management, compliance, and performance measurement frameworks.
* Spearheading digital transformation efforts, leveraging automation and AI to increase efficiency.
* Managing operational and financial performance, including budgeting and vendor relationships.
* Fostering strong stakeholder relationships internally and externally to support strategic objectives.
* Championing talent development, change management, and a high-performance team culture.
* Ensuring governance, compliance, and risk practices support strategic and operational integrity.
Note: This role requires eligibility and authorization to work in the United Kingdom.
What you’ll bring
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
* Proven experience in strategic leadership in legal operations, project management, or a related role, ideally within complex, regulated environments.
* Demonstrated ability to lead transformational programs, influence senior stakeholders, and foster cross-functional collaboration.
* Strong understanding of financial management, performance measurement, and value-driven decision-making.
* Expertise in digital transformation, leveraging technology, automation, and AI solutions.
* Strong organisational and change/project management skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills at senior levels.
* Presence and gravitas.
* Experience in talent development, change management, and implementing innovative operational models.
