Candidates suited to this role will have gained a minimum of 5 years experience within a CAD Design role, to be able to produce documentation of parts, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
You will be trained in the use of CAD and CAM software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks and be able to analyze and apply appropriate functional tolerances, including use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Responsibilities
Develop detailed designs, technical documentation, and test plans, as well as ensuring compliance with engineering standards. Work closely with operations across three sites to understand product requirements, production methods and key transactional processes. Coordinate and lead brainstorming, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis exercises to address design challenges and field issues efficiently and effectively.
Develop designs and engineering bills of material based on customer specifications, applying own technical expertise, understanding of customer needs, and industry knowledge.
Qualifications
Strong communication skills are essential, and the role involves liaising with senior engineers regarding project updates and building relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
Educationally a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, with good working knowledge of manufacturing methods, equipment and processes.
Proficiency in SolidWorks including PDM, plus a full UK driving licence for occasional travel to company locations or customer/supplier premises.
