Midlothian Council invites applications for the role of Senior Roads Officer (Roads Planning and Traffic), working as part of the Road Services team based in Midlothian House, Dalkeith (currently relocated to Fairfield House).
You will join a diverse team delivering a variety of roads projects, including construction, road safety, and planning approvals, often working collaboratively with internal and external colleagues. Current projects include urbanisation of routes, new carriageway construction, active travel initiatives to new school campuses, and approximately 100 RCC developments.
The successful candidate will act as a statutory consultee on planning applications and support the wider road services team in projects such as road safety, connectivity upgrades, and asset improvements. The workplace offers support and autonomy to deliver projects from concept design through procurement to delivery, with support from junior officers and peers.

Knowledge and Requirements:
* Degree in Engineering relevant to the specialism or equivalent qualification.
* Experience in highway design, asset management, or roads maintenance related to the role.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software, and knowledge of quality assurance systems.
* Category B driving licence is essential for site-based activities.
* Experience in staff management is desirable.
