We are seeking to appoint a capable and enthusiastic Learning Assistant to cover a maternity leave with the desired personal qualities and skills to join the staff team within the Dumfries Learning Town, based at Queensberry Learning Centre, Georgetown Primary School. You will be required to support pupils with additional support needs to overcome barriers to their learning and reach their full potential.
This post is fixed term for 27.5 hours a week, 39 weeks per year, over term time only, till December 2026.
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
Responsibilities
* Support pupils with additional support needs to overcome barriers to their learning and reach their full potential.
Qualifications
* Educated to SCQF Level 4 (e.g. Standard Grade General, National 4) or equivalent, including Numeracy and Literacy or equivalent.
* Experience of working with children and or young people.
* A willingness to undertake training.
* Experience of working with children/young people with additional support needs and a visit to Primary Inclusion Hub prior to application would be advantageous.

Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
