Work Experience / Technical Skills Required:

* Essential:

o At least 5 years’ experience in working with construction plant and machinery, specifically:

+ 360-degree Excavators (10 tonne to 25 tonne)

+ Dump Trucks

+ Batching Plants

+ Small Plant and Machinery

o Strong mechanical skills and expertise in the maintenance and repair of construction equipment.

o Proficiency in diagnostic tools and equipment for plant machinery.

o Experience working with a range of construction machinery, from large plant equipment to small machinery.

o Ability to work independently and solve problems efficiently on-site.

* Preferred:

o Experience with high-performance machinery in large-scale construction projects (e.g., airports, sea ports, highways, or industrial sites).

o Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems in construction machinery.

o Ability to perform welding, fabrication, and other specialized repairs.

Educational Qualifications / Training Record:
* Required:

o Relevant qualifications or certifications in plant maintenance (e.g., NVQ or City & Guilds in Plant Maintenance).

o CPCS or other relevant qualifications for plant operation and maintenance.

* Preferred:

o Further certifications or training in specific machinery or equipment used on-site (e.g., 360-degree Excavators, Dump Trucks, etc.).

o Health and safety qualifications (e.g., CITB, IOSH).

Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities:
* Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with health and safety standards.

* Regularly inspect tools and machinery for defects or safety hazards.

* Follow environmental best practices during maintenance and disposal of any hazardous materials or parts.

* Report all unsafe practices or conditions to the site manager immediately.

* Ensure the workshop area is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and safety.

* Communication:Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with other team members and supervisors.

Overall Purpose of the Job:

To carry out maintenance, repairs, and servicing of various types of construction plant and machinery, ensuring equipment is in optimal working condition to support ongoing construction projects. The role involves working with machinery such as 360-degree excavators, dump trucks, batching plants, and small plant and machinery.

General Responsibilities:
* Perform diagnostic tests and inspections on construction plant and machinery.

* Carry out scheduled maintenance, repairs, and servicing on 360-degree excavators (10 tonne to 25 tonne), dump trucks, batching plants, and other small plant machinery.

* Respond promptly to plant breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.

* Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, ensuring compliance with company and legal standards.

* Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

* Work closely with the site management team to ensure that machinery is available and in good working order for the construction process.

* Keep all tools and equipment well-maintained and ensure they are properly stored.

* Troubleshoot and identify mechanical problems and take appropriate action to resolve them.

* Liaise with suppliers for parts and materials and ensure the correct components are sourced in a timely manner.

* Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment to meet health and safety standards.

Specific Responsibilities / Key Skills:
* Plant and Machinery Maintenance:

o Perform routine maintenance and repairs on construction machinery, including 360-degree excavators, dump trucks, batching plants, and small plant machinery.

o Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in plant equipment.

o Carry out repairs and part replacements as needed to ensure machines are safe and functional.

* Diagnostic Expertise:

o Use diagnostic tools to detect issues and perform troubleshooting on a range of construction equipment.

o Identify, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical faults.

* Record Keeping and Reporting:

o Maintain detailed service logs and reports on repairs, servicing, and machinery usage.

o Provide clear reports to the site manager or plant supervisor on any maintenance issues, breakdowns, or recommended upgrades.

* Health and Safety Compliance:

o Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations.

o Carry out checks and tests to ensure plant and machinery are safe to use.

* Team Collaboration:

o Collaborate with the site team to ensure the smooth operation of all construction machinery.

o Ensure that work areas are kept clean and hazard-free, and that tools and equipment are properly maintained.
