Assistant Despatch Manager – Bradford
On behalf of our client we are seeking an Assistant Despatch Manager for their manufacturing and distribution site in Bradford. You will be a key part of the team, working closely with the Despatch Manager and the team to ensure the efficient running of the department.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and allocate work
* Ensure all goods are packaged suitably for delivery and dispatched on time in full
* Manage delivery and collection of goods
* Work with Manager to ensure all stock levels are correct
* Assist with management of all staff in line with company requirements, taking action to motivate, train and maintain discipline as required
* Deputise for Manager when they are out of the business
* Planning Workload
o Update manager daily
o Inform distribution of transport requirements for vehicle/driver planning
o Provide daily/weekly plan to maximise labour utilisation
o Use computer system to check job hours and packaging requirements
o Communicate effectively with other department managers to keep timings on plan
o Work with Sales and Admin to ensure delivery dates are correct on system
o Plan and design packaging requirements with suppliers for large jobs
* Daily workload
o Produce daily work plan
o Check timeliness and quality of work of the team
o Organise transport requirements for following day
o Produce courier labels for parcels and pallets and ensure all works orders are receipted, stock allocated to production orders and delivery notes completed
o Keep work areas clean, tidy and H&S requirements met
o Drive Counterbalance FLT as required to support the team
* Stock Control responsibilities
o Manage all warehouse stock with the Dispatch Manager to avoid delays, shortages or damaged stock
o Maintain stock/work flow system, ensuring all issues, receipts and allocations are completed
o Process all adjustments in a timely manner on the system to reflect stock count
* Other responsibilities
o Comply with company policies, including Equality and Diversity, H&S and Quality systems (ISO9001 & ISO14001)
o Minimise wastage and recycle whenever possible
o Be flexible with regard to hours of work in line with business requirements
