Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a reliable and hands-on Yard/Plant Manager with strong mechanical experience to oversee the day-to-day operations of the yard.
Your job will be the planning and maintenance of machinery and equipment that will be going to sites across the UK; and also to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. This role is ideal for someone with a background in mechanics who can manage inventory, organise logistics, and perform or oversee routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities of the Yard Manager:
* Manage the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the yard and work areas.
* Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of company equipment (e.g., trucks, trailers, generators, small & large Agriculture machines).
* You will need to have experience of hands on plant maintenance
* Schedule and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to reduce equipment downtime.
* Maintain accurate records of service and repair history for all assets.
* Coordinate with outside vendors for specialised repairs or part procurement when needed.
* Manage incoming and outgoing inventory, deliveries, and shipments.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Assist with loading and unloading of materials when necessary.
* Support logistics and operations teams with equipment allocation and yard logistics.
Qualifications and experience for the Yard Manager:
* Proven experience as a Yard Manager, Mechanic, or in a similar role.
* Strong mechanical background; ability to diagnose and perform minor repairs equipment (oil change, replace bulbs, looms etc)
* Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is a plus.
* Familiarity with maintaining heavy machinery and tools.
* Strong organisational and leadership skills.
* Ability to work independently and problem-solve under pressure.
£32,000 - £37,000 per annum
