The post presents an exciting opportunity to develop highly specialist, supervisory, and leadership skills within secondary care adult mental health.
ADAPTE has been developing new ways of working with people presenting with interpersonal issues and complex trauma, including structured clinical management, compassion-based, and trauma stabilization group programs. These run alongside established provisions such as dual modality MBT, EMDR, CAT, 3rd wave CBT, psychodynamic, systemic, and integrative approaches. Personal modality preferences will be encouraged and respected; specialisms in one or more of the above would be highly desirable.
The post holder will be involved in assessment, formulation, and interventions for the ADAPT population. Supervision of doctoral trainees or junior therapy team members will also be expected. Leadership support will be encouraged with the Locality Lead for service development and MDT development.
For WS, the post holder will provide highly specialized clinical interventions and supervision, contributing to the service's expertise within a psychodynamic framework for survivors of child sexual abuse. The post holder will offer consultation on clients' psychological care and work autonomously within professional guidelines and service policies.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing specialist psychological assessments using complex data from various sources.
2. Formulating and implementing treatment plans based on evidence-based methods across care settings.
3. Delivering psychological interventions to individuals, families, and groups, adjusting formulations as needed.
4. Evaluating treatment options considering complex individual and developmental factors.
5. Exercise professional responsibility for assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients.
6. Providing psychological advice and consultation to other professionals.
7. Contributing to a psychological framework of understanding and care across services.
8. Undertaking risk assessments and management.
9. Communicating effectively about assessment and treatment plans.
Teaching, training, and supervision duties include providing placements for trainees, receiving supervision, developing teaching skills, and contributing to staff training.
Management and service development tasks involve policy development, service evaluation, workload management, and involvement in recruitment processes.
IT responsibilities include proficiency in email, intranet, RIO, and data analysis software.
Research and service evaluation tasks involve using evidence-based literature, undertaking research, and managing projects.
Additional duties include maintaining professional standards, record keeping, and staying updated on relevant legislation and policies. The role may involve other duties within the grade, as discussed with the manager.
This role is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities and will be reviewed regularly. The postholder must comply with all relevant policies and guidelines, including those on Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, and Confidentiality.
