The role
As a General Technical Workshop Instructor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will deliver essential technical training that equips trainees with the knowledge, skills and confidence to progress in their careers. This is an engaging and rewarding instructional role where you will prepare course content, teach practical and theory-based modules and support learners throughout their training journey. You will play a key part in maintaining high training standards, promoting safety, and contributing to continuous improvement across the programme.
Day to day you’ll be required to:
1. Prepare and deliver General Technical Workshop training modules including lesson planning and creation of teaching materials
2. Deliver engaging training using technology enhanced learning where appropriate
3. Assess trainee progress through written exams, practical assessments and ongoing evaluation
4. Maintain accurate learner records, documentation and audit ready files in line with MOD and Babcock requirements
5. Supervise trainees, maintain safe working practices and support learner development through coaching and guidance
The role is based onsite at MoD Lyneham, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week.
Essential experience of the General Technical Workshop Instructor:
6. Experience of CNC machining, turning and milling
7. Supervisory experience
8. Proven experience in a relevant working environment.
9. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook packages (Computer literate).
Qualifications for the General Technical Workshop Instructor:
10. A manufacturing related apprenticeship and/or qualification to a recognised Level 3. Preferably in CNC machining, turning and/or milling.
11. BSC Level 1 Working Safely
