An Outstanding secondary school in Cheltenham is looking to appoint a Drama ECT from September 2026 to join its creative, high-achieving, and supportive Performing Arts department. This would be on a full-time and permanent basis. This is a school where Drama is highly valued, both as an academic subject and as a creative discipline that helps students build confidence, communication skills, creativity, and self-expression. The department is well-resourced, collaborative, and ambitious, with students who are enthusiastic, respectful, and eager to participate. The school is looking for a Drama ECT who can bring enthusiasm, strong subject knowledge, and a genuine passion for performance and theatre into the classroom. You will be joining a team committed to delivering engaging lessons and helping students develop confidence, creativity, collaboration, and performance skills. The Role You will teach Drama across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to contribute to KS5 for the right candidate. Lessons should be engaging, inclusive, and challenging, encouraging students to explore performance, devising, script work, and theatre practitioners while developing both practical and theoretical understanding. The department has a strong culture of collaboration, with teachers regularly sharing ideas, resources, and best practice. There will also be opportunities to contribute to extracurricular activities such as school productions, drama clubs, performances, workshops, competitions, and enrichment projects. Students are well-behaved, motivated, and respond positively to teachers who are supportive, energetic, and passionate about Drama and the performing arts. The Ideal Candidate The school would love to hear from candidates who: Hold QTS and a relevant Drama or Performing Arts degree Can teach Drama across KS3 and KS4 Are passionate about inspiring young people through Drama and performance Can create engaging and inclusive lessons for students of all abilities Build strong relationships with students and colleagues Bring energy, creativity, and fresh ideas to the department Are eager to develop professionally as part of a supportive ECT programme Whether you are completing your teacher training or are an ambitious ECT looking for outstanding support and development, the school would be excited to hear from you.
