Research Management & Governance Officer
Join NHS's Joint Research Management Office (JRMO) to support researchers in study set‑up, submission of study applications, sponsorship review, and capacity & capability reviews, including all amendments within the JRMO systems.
Work is based at the Joint Research Management Office, Dept. W, Mile End Road with a current onsite attendance requirement of 2 days per week (subject to change).
Job Summary
Applicants with experience in research governance and a sound knowledge of clinical research management are invited. The role involves:
* Supporting researchers in study set up and submission of study applications.
* Reviewing sponsorship and confirming capacity & capability reviews.
* Administering all amendments within the JRMO systems.
* Providing advice and guidance to the research community at Barts Health NHS Trust and QMUL.
* Administering the approvals system including sponsorship of research at Barts Health NHS Trust and QMUL.
* Ensuring high-quality data management for studies, supporting regulatory inspections, and maintaining good relationships with Barts Health NHS Trust, its constituent departments, QMUL, and the Clinical Research Network (CRN) Management Team.
Responsibilities
* Administer the approvals system and manage study set up, sponsorship, and amendments.
* Provide advice and support to researchers and internal stakeholders.
* Coordinate with regulatory inspections and other offices in the organization.
* Maintain good relationships and ensure communication within the partnership between Barts Health NHS Trust and QMUL.
* Support the development and maintenance of good relationships between the Trust, departments, QMUL and the Clinical Research Network (CRN) Management Team.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in research governance and/or conduct of research.
* Experience of clinical and/or NHS research management.
* Knowledge of governance and legislative framework for conducting clinical research studies.
* Proven interpersonal, analytical, organisational and IT (Web applications and MS Office) skills.
* Experience managing study set up, approvals and monitoring of research.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a multi‑professional team.
Desirable
* Specialist knowledge of RM&G procedures.
* Knowledge of systems and structures for the management of clinical research in the NHS.
* Experience preparing and delivering reports to a high standard.
* Assisting in training and guidance of researchers.
* Contributing to R&D guidance documents.
Salary
£37,259 to £45,356 a year (Band 5, Agenda for Change).
Contract
Permanent, full‑time with flexible working. Onsite attendance: 2 days per week.
