Overview of the role

We are looking to expand our team that specialise in the assessment of the construction of major infrastructure projects.

Working on nationally significant projects such as East West Rail and High Speed 2, you will ensure that the necessary robust and detailed assessment of construction impacts is carried out to meet the requirements of the statutory planning process.

You will provide a key interface between design teams, construction & logistics experts, and the transport planning & modelling teams that assess traffic impacts.


Key responsibilities and duties

* Interpreting and informing detailed construction methodologies that are often complex, cover a wide geographical area and impact multiple modes
* Identification and assessment of suitable traffic routes that can accommodate construction traffic and safe diversion routes for all modes of general traffic
* Helping specialist colleagues to recognise the impact of construction on non‑motorised users, public transport services and emergency services
* Preparation of formal deliverables including construction traffic management plans
* Detailed engagement with traffic modelling teams to ensure temporary traffic management arrangements are correctly interpreted and modelled
* Contributions to multi‑disciplinary design co‑ordination meetings and studies to highlight impacts of design options and changes on construction traffic and access

The role will also require client‑facing technical discussions and stakeholder engagement activities.


Candidate specification

Essential

* Knowledge of construction processes, to help in identifying and summarising the relevant information
* Knowledge of the stages and processes used by specialist engineering design teams
* Appreciation of the impact of major infrastructure projects on utility services
* An aptitude for interpreting complex spreadsheets is essential in assessing and manipulating extensive data
* A basic knowledge of strategic and local junction traffic modelling
* A good knowledge of Traffic & Transport assessment requirements for statutory planning processes including Development Consent Orders

Desirable

* Skills/knowledge in GIS
* Knowledge of Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) methodologies
* A degree in transport planning or engineering
* Membership in a relevant professional organisation (such as IHT, ILT, TPS, or ICE)
* Professionally qualified (CEng or CTPP) through the CIHT, ICE or IET
