Job Purpose/Objectives of a Mobile Crane Operator
To provide a high-quality lifting service to our customers, ensuring safety of employees, customers, and the public.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities of a Mobile Crane Operator
* Work according to manufacturer’s instructions at all times.
* Adhere to road traffic regulations.
* Ensure PPE is worn appropriately.
* Be familiar with the correct use of outriggers and ensure they are used on level ground.
* Set and check the functioning of the rated capacity limiter and indicator.
* Perform correct manual handling procedures, e.g., Outrigger Pans.
* Liaise with Site Manager/Project Manager upon arrival on site.
* Resist pressures to carry out unsafe operations.
* Understand and apply information from reports and duty charts related to crane operation and safety.
* Be aware of environmental factors like wind that affect crane operation.
* Take action to avoid dangerous situations, including stopping operations if necessary.
* Operate fire suppressant equipment if fitted.
* Access and depart the crane safely using ladders and grab rails.
* Undertake training on specific crane models, familiarize with rigging, maintenance procedures, and crane documentation.
* Continuously seek improvements in work practices to achieve business objectives.
Person Specification
Education/Knowledge/Experience for a Mobile Crane Operator
* Full Driver's Licence
* HGV Class C Licence
* In-date Blue CPCS card with Mobile Tower Crane Operator authorization
* Previous experience operating mobile tower cranes
* Knowledge of wind and climatic effects on crane and load
* Strong knowledge of road traffic regulations
Skills/Abilities
* Display safe working practices
* Provide friendly and helpful service to ACH customers
