We are inviting applications for two newly established substantive Consultant posts in Ear Nose and Throat to join the expanding team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Newly qualified and established consultant candidates are welcome to apply.
These posts have been created to meet increasing demand and support ongoing service expansion and transformation, with the aim to establish sub‑speciality interests, and in line with plans for a new hospital at the Watford site and work underway for a new surgical elective hub at St Albans City Hospital.
Each post offers a 10 PA job plan with a flexible working structure, supported professional activities, and a strong commitment to education, research, and clinical governance. You'll be expected to contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, audit and service development initiatives, and provide high‑quality patient care.
The post holders will be an addition to the team of 2 full time Consultants, Associate specialist and four speciality grade surgeons, trainee registrar and three SHOs. Situated within the pan‑London region, the service closely aligns with ENT services at London Northwest, Bedfordshire and East & North Herts Hospitals; the appointees will join the regional network on call via East & North Herts.
Areas of specialist interests will be welcomed, particularly in: Rhinology, Otology, Non‑malignant Head & Neck surgery & Paediatrics.
Main duties of the job
 * Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of all patients presenting to the Hospital.
 * To provide and support colleagues with the management of all adult and paediatric patients presenting with ENT conditions.
 * To develop close links with the ENT Team and undertake the responsibilities of outpatient ENT Clinics.
 * Teaching and training of intermediate grade and, junior medical staff, medical students and ENT Nursing Staff.
 * To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
 * To have responsibility for and actively participate in continuing professional development

Job responsibilities
The main hospitals are Watford General Hospital, St Albans City Hospital, and Hemel Hempstead Hospital. The sites are well‑connected to London via access on the M1/M25 motorways and has rail links accessing all sites within 30 minutes from London. Furthermore, prospective postholders will benefit from the London living wage as part of their salary supplements.
With the trust being part of the new hospital programme, this will be an exciting time to join us and help develop the ENT service at West Herts!
 * Full GMC Registration
 * These capabilities should be clearly demonstrated on the list of surgical experience/procedures. Candidates will be considered for interview if they have a UK CCT/peri‑CCT, are on the UK specialist register.
 * An appropriate higher ENT qualification/Fellowship
 * P Proven ability to operate independently in:
 o Endoscopic sinus surgery
