Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced professional with expertise in safeguarding and HR investigations to serve as the Head of Safeguarding and Prevent – Allegations Management Lead. This bank role offers flexibility to support the Trust when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Chair safeguarding allegations panels for staff, ensuring risk assessments and recommendations are completed.
* Monitor and report on investigation progress, advising the Trust on statutory duties around safer recruitment, reporting to professional bodies, DBS, and statutory partners.
* Provide expert advice to chairs of disciplinary panels and appeals, ensuring compliance with policy and best practice.
* Act as a trusted advisor on complex cases, supporting robust decision‑making and safeguarding standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Registered Paramedic, Nurse or relevant professional registration.
* Master's Degree or equivalent level of safeguarding experience.
* Extensive theoretical knowledge, including modular training at strategic level.
* Significant experience at a senior level across safeguarding / public protection, PREVENT, and Learning Disabilities.
* Experience of multi‑agency work at a senior level.
* Specialised safeguarding knowledge with previous experience.
* Prepared and written board‑level reports and presentations.
* Line management experience, including oversight of a service area.
* Budget management responsibility.
* Expert advice, supervision, coaching or support for senior staff on complex situations, risk and legal proceedings (including safeguarding allegations and sexual safety concerns).
* Advanced knowledge of safeguarding policy and current issues.
* In‑depth knowledge of safeguarding networks in the South‑Central Ambulance Service area.
Desirable
* Level 5 training competence in safeguarding.
* Demonstrated leadership in complex and difficult situations, with ability to motivate a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience managing the safeguarding education agenda.
