We are recruiting for a part-time Painter at our Portsmouth Harbour sites. Working within the Heritage and Strategic Programmes Directorate, and closely supporting the Conservation and Maintenance Manager in Portsmouth and Gosport, this exciting role is focused on ensuring that our historic ships and buildings are well-maintained to ensure they are preserved to ensure they are protected from elements. The work will be varied, ranging from preparing and painting ships and buildings to new exhibits, supporting contractors on site, and supporting project teams. Key Opportunities Opportunity to be part of the team working on the conservation of our internationally important collection of historic ships. Using your skills to ensure our buildings, galleries, docks, and ships are maintained to a high standard to preserve them for future generations. Working in a unique heritage environment. Knowledge/Experience You will be comfortable preparing and painting historic materials including Timber, iron, steel, and historic internal surfaces. You should have recent practical work experience in the building/general maintenance sector, with a wide knowledge of different painting processes. A MEWP license would be preferable although not essential as training can be provided. As you will be working on Historic Ships and buildings in a multitude of different spaces, this will be a physically demanding role which will require manual handling daily. We provide.
