A highly respected and genuinely people-first law firm is looking to recruit a Public Law Solicitor to join its growing Care and Public Law team based in Huddersfield. The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative team representing kinship carers, adoptive parents, prospective adopters and foster carers in care and adoption proceedings. The Opportunity
* This role would suit a solicitor with experience in public childcare law who is confident managing their own caseload while working as part of a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities
* Managing a varied caseload involving the representation of kinship carers and adoptive parents in care proceedings
* Representing prospective adopters and foster carers in adoption matters
* Handling cases from instruction through to conclusion, including taking over matters partway through proceedings
* Providing advocacy and representing clients in court where appropriate
* Maintaining the highest standards of client care at all times
* Ensuring strict confidentiality and secure handling of client information
* Working collaboratively with colleagues across the firm
* Maintaining effective communication with clients, courts and external organisations
* Supporting the development of the department and contributing to business development activities where appropriate
* Supervising and supporting junior staff where required
Candidate Requirements
* Strong knowledge of public childcare law and care proceedings
* Experience handling legal aid matters as well as privately funded work
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong advocacy skills
* Ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines
* Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills
* Self-motivated, organised and proactive
* Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment
