We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Building Safety Officer to join our Housing Management Team. About The Role As the Senior Building Safety Officer, you will: Take a lead role in supporting the Principal Accountable Person (PAP), Responsible Persons, and the Housing Asset Manager to ensure the safety of our housing stock. Coordinate and assure all building-related safety activities in line with the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and internal building safety systems. Support the development and maintenance of Building Safety Cases, Safety Case Reports, and Building Assurance Certificates for high-risk buildings, including high-rises and sheltered housing schemes. Facilitate stakeholder engagement and support staff and contractor training related to building safety. Ensure all operations within Housing Teams are safe and compliant with current and upcoming health and safety legislation. Proactively identify and advise on impending legislative changes to maintain organisational readiness. Deliver expert guidance on health and safety matters, including codes of practice, advice notes, and council policy. Lead or support formal investigations, including incident reviews and the development of improvement plans. Be an active member of the Building Safety Committee and contribute to strategic health and safety objectives. Please note this role does not attract sponsorship. About You To be successful in this role, you will need: At least 3 years of post-qualification experience providing health and safety advice in a similar setting. A recognised qualification such as NEBOSH Level 3 Diploma (or equivalent), ideally with a focus on fire safety. Current professional membership with IOSH, IIRSM, CQI, CIOB, RICS, RIBA, or be working towards it. Proven ability to develop and improve safety processes in response to changing operational or legal requirements. Strong influencing and problem-solving skills with the ability to engage positively with a range of stakeholders. In-depth knowledge of: Incident investigation and formal reporting Risk assessment methodologies, including Fire Risk Assessment CDM 2015 and Principal Designer duties The Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and associated regulations Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, with excellent data entry and extraction skills for reports and statistical analysis.
