 
        
        The Speciality Cardiology Clinical Lead reports to the Clinical Director and works with the Directorate Manager and Matron.
Responsibilities
 * Provide clinical leadership within the service.
 * Collaborate within the management structure of the Directorate.
 * Monitor quality and safety and implement actions jointly with the Matron and Directorate Manager.
 * Plan efficient, cost‑effective clinical services using available resources.
 * Promote innovation and improvements in clinical productivity and service delivery.
 * Ensure effective communication between the specialty, the Directorate and the Divisional Teams.
 * Facilitate research, development, teaching and training.
 * Develop and maintain links with key external organisations and within the Trust.
 * Contribute to service planning, development and business cases.
 * Support operational management: implement Trust policies, ensure performance standards, manage temporary staff, staff cover and staffing levels.
 * Financial management: apply financial and performance metrics, achieve savings, support Service Line Reporting and ensure budgets and recharges are accurate.
 * Human Resources management: ensure HR policies are followed, support recruitment, training, appraisals, and line‑management duties.
 * Clinical governance: audit, risk management, infection control, guideline implementation, incident reporting and NICE guidance compliance.
 * Clinical and professional practice: support job‑plan reviews, performance and conduct matters, uphold professional standards.
Qualifications
 * A practicing clinical professional.
 * Knowledge of the NHS, its infrastructure and recent reforms.
 * Postgraduate management or further study qualification.
 * Experience working within an acute NHS teaching hospital.
 * Recent experience in managing clinical services.
 * Understanding of clinical governance.
 * Experience of change management.
 * Ability to work in partnership with managers and clinicians.
 * Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
 * Excellent communication and presentation skills.
 * Ability to influence and negotiate.
 * UK professional registration required.
