The Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Estates Department for a Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician – Electrical.
We are looking for a proactive and adaptable individual to join our team, delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of plant and equipment throughout the NHS Orkney Board area.
This varied and rewarding role includes all variations of electrical testing and fault finding, the calibration and validation of sterilisation and decontamination equipment, ensuring associated plant is maintained to the highest standards and that accurate records are kept in line with regulatory requirements.
The designated post holder will also be supported to undertake specialist training and certification to develop new skills in a variety of multi‑skilled roles, enabling them to carry out key duties safely and effectively.
A flexible approach to working hours is essential, as the role may require adjustments to the standard working week to meet service needs. The successful candidate will also participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota, providing vital support to ensure continuity of service.

The Candidate
The successful applicant will be an experienced electrician in building services and be prepared to complete multi‑skilled training in several specialist healthcare related equipment as part of their role.

Location, Working Pattern and Contract Duration
This post will be based at The Balfour.
The successful candidate will work: Full Time 36 hours per week (0800‑1600 Monday to Thursday and 0800‑1430 on Friday).
This post is Permanent.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NHS Orkney.
