Creative Designer (Zero-hours contract)

Hourly rate: £28 -£30 an hour plus additional holiday pay

Location: London

Williams Lea seeks a Graphic Designer to join our Relief Team!

Purpose of role:

Our relief team offers a flexible solution to Williams Lea, often working on critical projects on client sites. As a Creative Designer within our relief team, you will be working various shifts covering holidays and sickness to ensure our services are fully staffed across multiple office locations in London, sometimes at short notice.

Your role will be varied depending on the needs of the individual client projects and every task which is undertaken must be delivered with an exceptional customer service approach.

You will demonstrate excellent client and team focus, be an all-round team player with the ability to support in various areas and show experience of providing creative and innovative proposals, with our core focus being to deliver high quality corporate information for our clients.

The Designer will work on a variety of print and digital projects. Using InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, this role requires you to work at pace with keen attention to detail. As the Designer you will use your eye for detail and software knowledge to produce and deliver projects including business brochures, advertising, press inserts, web graphics, infographics and a variety of other print-based design work from brief through to print.

We are looking for someone with a ‘can-do’ attitude, willing to put forward ideas and have a keen eye for detail. Ensuring that all work sent out is to the highest standard and within brand guidelines. The candidate should be an extremely organised and dedicated individual with strong communications skills.

Key responsibilities:

1. Production of high-quality print and digital materials, including multimedia or complex PowerPoint

2. Work on multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to project timelines and deadlines.

3. Ensure compliance with brand guidelines, legal requirements, and industry standards.

4. Regular interaction with clients, as well as close collaboration with your creative colleagues, bringing a breadth of creativity and innovation to the team.

5. Working in a highly compliant environment, you will provide a seamless service that surpasses client briefs, whilst ensuring the delivery of on-brand creative material

6. Building strong client relationships with key stakeholders and relevant support teams, as is your ability to win client work and grow your service

7. Advising clients on print, layout, branding and deadlines.

8. Quality checking high-quality design, artwork within Client brand guidelines and to approved briefs and timescales

Key competencies:

9. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in graphic design

10. In depth understanding of print and design processes

11. Excellent typography and layout skills

12. Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud – InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator

13. Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint

14. Experience creating and editing iPDF documents

15. Working knowledge of HTML and CSS would be an advantage

16. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

17. Strong organisation skills and the ability to prioritise effectively

18. Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst under pressure

19. Must be able to work on their own initiative

20. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

21. High levels of accuracy and attention to detail

23. Passione for design with a desire to stay up to date on industry trends and constantly looking for ways to improve skills.

24. Excellent attention to detail, ensuring precision in layouts, typography and colour choices.

25. Adaptability – Able to adjust to different design styles, trends, and client needs.

26. Strong communication skills and ability to effectively translate ideas into visuals.

27. Able to find creative solutions to design challenges.

28. Excellent time management. Able to manage multiple projects and efficiently meet deadlines.

29. Self-motivated - able to work independently and take ownership of projects.

30. Resilient and receptive to feedback.

31. A team player.
