Here is an opportunity to become part of our friendly andsupportive team to help provide great care for our 8000+ patients.

We are looking for an experienced salaried GP to recruit, working 4-8 sessions per week.

Main duties of the job To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for theprovision of medical services to the practice population, delivering anexcellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract.Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medicalpractice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading byexample, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

We are a friendly, family practice offering quality clinicalcare to our patients with a list size 8000+.Good transport links -our premises is situated on the A690 inSunderland, easily reached from the A19 & A1. Our team is currentlycomposed of 2 GPs partners, 4 Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, a Nurse Associate and a Trainee Nurse Associate, 2 Healthcare Assistants and a full team of Administrators. We have a great team spirit and the healthand wellbeing of all our staff is very important to us. We are an inclusive, patient focused practiceand always striving to provide our patients with high quality care and our CQCrating is good over all areas. Weoperate EMIS Web clinical system and offer a range of appointment types to meetthe needs of our patients.

Job responsibilities Role Overview

The post-holder will work as part of the clinical team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care within a primary care setting. The role involves managing a wide range of clinical presentations, supporting continuity of care, and contributing to the overall development of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

Provide safe, effective, and autonomous clinical care to patients presenting with a wide range of undifferentiated health concerns

Assess, diagnose, and manage patient conditions, including those presenting without a prior diagnosis

Deliver consultations via face-to-face, telephone, and home visits as appropriate

Undertake triage and prioritisation of patient requests in line with practice protocols

Manage and action clinical workload including test results, prescriptions, correspondence, and patient queries in a timely manner

Prescribe appropriately in accordance with local and national prescribing guidance

Identify risk factors and support early diagnosis and prevention of disease

Develop and review personalised care plans in partnership with patients

Provide health promotion and education to support improved patient outcomes

Governance & Quality

Work in line with practice policies, clinical guidelines, and governance frameworks

Maintain clear, accurate, and contemporaneous clinical records in line with agreed standards

Participate in audit, quality improvement activities, and clinical review processes

Contribute to effective management of patients with long-term conditions

Support safe prescribing and appropriate use of clinical coding

Practice & Team Contribution

Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated patient care

Build effective working relationships across the practice and with external stakeholders

Contribute to practice meetings, significant event reviews, and service development discussions

Manage incoming clinical correspondence and ensure appropriate follow-up actions

Professional Development

Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge through continuous professional development (CPD)

Participate in appraisal, audit, and reflective practice

Contribute to peer learning and support within the GP team

Practice Responsibilities

Record patient data promptly and accurately using the clinical system

Participate in practice audits and data quality improvement

Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and guidance including:

Data protection and confidentiality

Health & safety

Safeguarding (children and adults)

Maintain mandatory training including CPR, anaphylaxis, and safeguarding

Training & Development

Engage fully in practice-led and external training opportunities

Participate in ongoing feedback and supervision to support development

Contribute to a supportive learning environment within the practice

Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times, ensuring that all personal and clinical information is handled in accordance with data protection legislation and practice policies.

Qualifications

Fully qualified General Practitioner with Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent

Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise

On the NHS Performers List

Evidence of annual appraisal and revalidation (where applicable)

Current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance (or willingness to obtain)

Current CPR and anaphylaxis certification

Eligible to work in the UK (including work permit where required)

Evidence of ongoing continued professional development (CPD)

Additional postgraduate qualifications, diplomas or specialist interests

Interest or experience in teaching, mentoring, or research

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of the health and social care needs of a general practice population

Awareness of the needs of vulnerable and underserved patient groups

Strong clinical decision-making skills with the ability to work independently

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

High standard of clinical record keeping and data accuracy

Effective time management and organisational skills, including prioritisation under pressure

Analytical skills to support clinical reasoning and decision-making

Commitment to patient-centred care and professional standards

Knowledge of:

Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF)

Demand, capacity and triage management in primary care

Clinical coding systems (e.g. Read/SNOMED)

Experience working with vulnerable populations (e.g. homeless patients, refugees, looked after children)

Experience

Experience of working in UK general practice

Completion of General Practice Specialist Training (GP VTS)

Demonstrable experience managing a broad range of clinical presentations

Experience of working within a multidisciplinary, skill-mixed team

Understanding and application of clinical and information governance principles

Experience of maintaining high standards of record keeping and clinical documentation

Evidence of reflective practice and self-audit

Experience using clinical systems (e.g. EMIS Web)

Experience supporting practice or pathway change initiatives

Additional Requirements

Full UK driving licence (if home visits are required)

Ability to manage workload effectively and work flexibly to meet service needs

Compliance with all relevant policies including confidentiality, safeguarding, health & safety, and data protection
